Steve Machando

This is one of the students who have been studying with us for tailoring. Steve dropped out of school when was 11 years due to the death of his father because he was only the one who was able to work and earn some money for the family. As is common with a lot youngsters in Malawi, he started to smoke and drink at a very young age.

He came to the ARK a while ago and asked us to help him to learn how to sew, so we gave him a chance and helped him on the condition that he stopped the smoking and the drinking. He has now become a good tailor and from the little money we were able to give him, he bought some smart clothes, some soap and started to make changes in this life.

Nowadays he is encouraging his peers to work hard, learn skills and leave the drink etc behind. And he is also a young man of great ambition. We are going to keep you posted about Steve's movements as we see a very bright future for him.
